BAUHAUS BENCH

 Originally used in a train station, this Art Deco era metal bench is a superb example of simplicity, form, & function.  The partitioned sections under the steel bench allowed awaiting passengers to store their belongings and keep them separated; while standing passengers held the curved rail on top of the bench to keep stable footing in a crowded railway station.  The character of this piece increased with it's chipped black gloss paint reaving the many colors it had been.  It's tubular steel frame is a clear example of Bauhaus design.

Extremely rare, highly sought after collectible piece of Art Deco, Eames era furniture.  Crafted in 1934 (stamped), this metal vanity, dresser or desk (or flat screen credenza!) was designed by Norman Bel Geddes for Simmons Furniture. The roomy 6 drawers, adorned with Bakelite drawer pulls, are reinforced with wooden tracks!  The original vanity glass is included. vanity is mounted on an ebonized wood base. this is a truly significant, historic piece of American made, engineered furniture.
